Balance/Underbalance/ Overbalance
A state of pressure differential between static or circulating mud pressure on the formation and the formation fluid pressure. Balance occurs when pressure exerted on the formation is equal to the formation fluid pressure. Underbalance occurs when the pressure exerted on the formation is less than the formation fluid pressure. Overbalance occurs when the pressure exerted on the formation is greater than the formation fluid pressure.
