Digital Twin

Towards 4th Generation Engineering

Digital twins are becoming more common throughout the energy industry as the use of enhanced technology, data availability and transmissibility continues to accelerate. Superior Energy Services has always used enhanced capabilities and this continues to advance to keep pace with the digital revolution. Collaboration between its subsidiaries is also making use of the benefit of creating a digital twin to improve the performance of downhole tools.

StabilDrill shock subs, for example, are designed utilizing the advanced engineering capabilities of their sister company Wild Well Control who created a digital equivalent of the StabilDrill sub. Feedback from field trials with the tool validated the predictions from the digital counterpart. The next step is to use the digital twin to drive tool design enhancements tailored to particular field conditions.
